Training consistently with isolateral, unilateral, independent-motion machine and free weight exercises forces your non-dominant and less-coordinated movement patterns to recruit more relative motor units to do the same amount of work, because of neurological inefficiencies, which often results in slightly bigger and stronger non-dominant musculature. Basically, weaker works harder to do the same amount of work.
